Public safety careers include police officers, lawyers, clerks, judges, corrections and parole officers, and more. This course provides fundamental knowledge for the many career pathways available in this field.
- Speakers from law enforcement and CJ fields.
- Classes include Introduction to Criminal Justice and Criminal Law for up to six credits toward an associate degree or certificate in Criminal Justice.
- Can be coupled with City of Albuquerque Police Service Aide (PSA) training course, which can provide an additional 7 hours toward an associate’s degree.

About the Program
Running Start for Careers has teamed up with the Career Enrichment Center and the Albuquerque Police Department, to provide Police Service Aide (PSA) training while still in high school. Acceptance to this course is a based on application, participation in both physical and academic training. Learn what it takes to be a law enforcement officer through rigorous academic and physical activity. Completion of the course provides up to 7 credits that can be applied to the CNM Criminal Justice Associate Degree program Learn more here.
